What Does Teeth Whitening Involve?

Professional bleaching is the most usual method of teeth whitening.  Your dental team will be able to tell you if you are suitable for the treatment and will supervise it if you are.

With the custom tray-based method, the whitening is done by you at home. You’ll receive the product and custom-made trays made specifically for your own teeth. You’ll get these from your dentist.

The active ingredient in the product is usually hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide.  As the active ingredient is broken down, oxygen gets into the enamel on the teeth and the color is made lighter.

How Long Does Chair-Side Power Whitening Take?

Before moving forward with any process, your dentist will need to assess your teeth. The dentist wants to make sure you are suitable for the treatment.  Once it has been agreed, this procedure usually takes about one hour.

Once the procedure is done, you’ll be pleased to see your bright shiny smile once again. You’ll especially appreciate having:

  • Years of stain lifted from your teeth
  • A smile you can confidently use when someone snaps a picture
  • Your social life back without being embarrassed by your yellow smile

As you now know, there really isn’t much to it. All you need to do to get things started is to make an appointment and find out what’s best for you.
